littleBits is a system of electronic building blocks that snap together with magnets, and teach kids to invent with technology. I was a product designer at littleBits from 2014 - 2019, and played an integral role in building out our user research toolkit, and applying human-centered methodologies to develop multiple award-winning product experiences.
Role: Product Designer
Responsibilities: UX research, defining experience and interaction requirements, rapid prototyping, content strategy and writing.
"Bits" snap together to form "Inventions". "Kits" contain instructions and learning content for those Inventions. The online "Community" served as a platform for kid inventors to find inspiration and feedback.
My primary responsibility at littleBits was UX research for our physical and digital products. This included planning and running focus groups, interviews, usability “play tests”, and co-designing sessions with kids and parents.
The “Invention Cycle” was a kid-friendly design process we created to enable our users to create their own inventions and address their own design challenges. This conceptual model was the underlying structure for our consumer and education product experiences.
